There are very few traditions that unite people in this country quite like college football. In fact, Atlanta is anticipating 150,000+ people this weekend for the College Football Playoff National Championship between Georgia and Alabama. The game is expected to be one of the most attended games in college football this year. But the game is just part of the fun. Many of those 150,000 fans will not even go into the game. The entire game day experience is what brings fans back every fall. The College Football Hall of Fame recreated the game day experience, and designed each exhibit around the foundation of the spirit of college football, the fans.
The College Football Hall of Fame takes all the components of college football and brings them together to create an interactive museum and experience. Whether you’re a die-hard or fair-weather fan, you need to visit the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta.
Here are our rankings of the interactive activities that you shouldn’t miss during your visit to the College Football Hall of Fame:
Consolation: Game Day Theater
The film shown in this theater will give every college football fan goosebumps. It highlights all of the great aspects of college football: the tailgating, the stadium atmospheres, the speed and ability of the players in the game, the unpredictability of each game, and the team spirit. The Game Day Theatre did not make the top four because it was less interactive, but it is still a must-see for any visitor to the College Football Hall of Fame.
Fourth Place: College Gameday
Every college football fan knows about the iconic College Gameday show that airs every Saturday morning. We watch this show religiously. In this exhibit, you get to make a guest appearance on the College Gameday set.
Third Place: Down Set Sing
Miss singing your school’s fight song with a stadium full of fans? Want to teach someone else your fight song for their future trip to your team’s game? This exhibit brings karaoke and college football together. Choose your favorite school and stand in front of the camera, to sing your fight song. Don’t worry, the words are right in front of you and the music plays in the background.
Runner-Up: Gameday Virtual Reality
Experience the sights and sounds of the biggest games in college football in the virtual reality exhibit. We loved watching the 2017 National Championship game from a sideline seat.
Champion: Indoor Playing Field
Show off your best touchdown celebration, kick a field goal, race through an obstacle course, and test your throwing accuracy on the indoor playing field. This is a great area for kids, but don’t be surprised when the line is full of men reliving the glory days.
The College Football Hall of Fame is a one of a kind experience for fans of all ages. When you walk in, you’re transported to game day on a college campus. The only thing you’re missing is a hamburger and a beer. Plan to spend 2-3 hours exploring, but be prepared to spend more!
