Growing up, my parents let my siblings and I drink soda (or pop for you Midwesterners) once a week. We could only have one serving on either Friday or Saturday. The only exception was when we visited my Great Grandma. I remember looking in her fridge and only seeing Coca-Cola, strawberries and whipped cream (talk about living the dream). To this day, every time I drink a Coke, I think of my sweet Grammie Joyce.
Almost everyone has a memory with Coca-Cola. The World of Coca-Cola brings those memories alive. Of all the attractions in Atlanta, World of Coca-Cola is one of the most classic and, in our opinion, one of the best! They’ve got something for everyone, including:
For parents, it may not sound too appealing to fill your kids up with sugary soda drinks, but World of Coca-Cola is an awesome place for kids! Children can meet the Coca-Cola Polar Bear mascot and have their photo taken either professionally or on your camera. Close by, kids can visit the vault where the legendary secret formula is secured. The Vault has plenty of kid-friendly activities that will have them feeling like a detective.
The History Buff:
If you love history, you will love the World of Coca-Cola! On your tour, you will learn about the rich history of Coca-Cola surrounded by artifacts dating back to the very start of the company in 1886. History buffs will enjoy the Loft because of the artifacts, but will also appreciate the Milestones of Refreshment exhibit that follows the timeline of the Coca-Cola company up to today!
Coke has a great taste, but it came to be what it is today because of lifestyle advertising and branding. You will find examples of that in the Perfect Pauses Theatre. Creatives will also enjoy the Pop Culture Gallery where you can learn how the brand became an icon of popular culture. And if you’re into film or storytelling, you will absolutely love the Moments of Happiness video shown in the Coca-Cola theatre. We won’t spoil it for you, but let’s just say we could watch it on repeat and still tear up a little every time.
The Action Seeker:
Ready for a bumpy ride? Grab a pair of 3D glasses and head into the 4-D Theatre to search for the secret ingredient that makes a Coke a Coke. The 4-D aspect brings the search to life. Ultimately the secret ingredient is found, but you might be surprised at what the secret is.
Ty is an engineer and loves to learn about the way things are built and how they work. Bottle Works was created for the engineer. In this exhibit, you get a behind-the-scenes look at the production process. It shows you everything from pressurizing the bottles to filling them with the Coke product and all that is in between. Even if you’re not an engineer, it was really cool to see how the Coke you buy is bottled!
You don’t have to be a foodie to love the Tasting Room! At the end of your tour, try over 100 different Coca-Cola products from around the world. You will see some familiar flavors and some new flavors. Our favorite flavors (besides the ones from North America) are the European flavors. Try all of them! Maybe you will find a new favorite drink!
It takes about two hours to walk through the entire building, and it will get very busy during the day. We recommend getting there right when it opens at 9 am and purchasing tickets in advance (you can do that here) or getting a CityPASS (purchase here). On an average day, World of Coca-Cola sees about 3,000 people. On the day we visited, they were expecting 8,000. Show up early, people!
